The Randall's Goby is a species of Goby found in Tap Tap Fish AbyssRium. They are the 8th species listed on the Saltwater Tank's Normal Fish list.

Appearance[]

The Randall's Goby is one of the most unique species of Goby in the game, being colored a yellowish off-white color, fading to white on its underbelly. 5 thin, light orange, vertical stripes run down each side of its body, and one is located behind its eyes. The dorsal fin on is head forms a loop, connecting to its body again just behind its head. All of its fins are translucent, including the edges of its front dorsal fin. There is a yellow stripe running along that fin, followed by another translucent section, then a dark blue/green dot in the center, connected to the body by an orange stripe.

Requirements[]

It is revealed to the player after taking 3 pictures of a Goby; any combination of Gobies should count towards this unlock.

The Randall's Goby counts towards the Goby total, helping to unlock Tangs.

Biology[]

In real life, the Randall's Goby is a species of goby native to the tropical reefs of the Indo-Pacfific which lives around the same depth as the Helfrich's Firefish. These are one of the few carnivorous fish that are known to eat smaller fish, rather than small crustaceans, like most other gobies eat. They're very peaceful fish to have in a tank and often burrow together, only becoming violent if they feel their tank is too small or stressful. While it's encouraged to get them a pistol shrimp buddy, be very cautious about putting them in tanks with smaller fish, as both the goby and shrimp are known to prey upon these fish.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the name in-game, it only has one true name, that being the Randall's Prawn Goby.
  • While Its diet does include shrimp, they are named for their symbiotic relationship with the Randall's Pistol Shrimp, since it'll kill smaller fish that they may eat.
